Oil Change Basics
Understanding Your Oil Change.
Your engine depends on clean, properly specified oil for everyday operation. Here
are answers to common questions about oil changes and oil types.

It depends on your vehicle, the oil type and how you drive. Many modern cars run 5,000 to 10,000 miles between changes with synthetic oil, while older engines on conventional oil may need one every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Follow your owner's manual or the reminder we give you after each visit.
Your owner's manual lists the correct viscosity and specification, and it is often printed on the oil filler cap. When you visit, our technicians check your make, model and mileage and recommend the right oil for your engine.
A full synthetic oil change uses oil made from highly refined synthetic base stocks. It flows better in the cold, resists breaking down in the heat and keeps engines cleaner, which is why many newer vehicles require it.
Synthetic oil offers stronger protection against heat, wear and deposits and usually lasts longer between changes. Conventional oil is still a reliable, economical choice for many older engines driven in normal conditions.
In most cases, yes. Synthetic oil is compatible with conventional oil, so you can switch at your next service. We check your vehicle's requirements first and let you know if a specific oil is recommended.

Keep It Running
Small Maintenance Steps Can
Make a Difference.
Regular attention to your vehicle can help you stay ahead of routine maintenance needs. Here
are some common questions about keeping your car ready for the road.

Old oil breaks down and collects dirt, so it protects your engine less. Delaying a change for too long can increase wear, reduce fuel efficiency and, in severe cases, lead to costly engine damage.
Yes. Checking the dipstick once a month, or before a long trip, helps you spot low oil or leaks early. Park on level ground and check with the engine cool.
Yes. Short trips, stop-and-go traffic, towing, dusty roads and very hot or cold weather are considered severe conditions and may call for more frequent oil changes.
Pull over safely and turn off the engine as soon as possible. Check the oil level and top it off if it is low. If the light stays on, do not keep driving; contact us for help.
It can. Vehicles over 75,000 miles often benefit from high mileage oil, which helps condition seals and reduce oil consumption. We recommend the right oil for your engine's age and condition.
